What is an official?

Officials ensure safe game play, award points, manage game stats, and assess penalties. There are two types of officials – Skating Officials (Referee) and Non-Skating Officials (NSO).  

AZRD Officials Objectives

• Foster a league culture of inclusion, professionalism and continual learning.
• Ensure Arizona Roller Derby skaters are equipped with institutional rules knowledge to elevate gameplay and strategy.
• Continue the growth and development of Arizona Roller Derby officials. 
• Attend practices and apply learning.
• Staffing games hosted by AZRD and ensuring fun times for all!
• Recruiting for the future, retaining for the long term.
