PHOENIX, ARIZONA (Aug. 3, 2012) – Arizona Roller Derby (AZRD) has qualified as the #7 seed for the 2012 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) West Regional Playoffs held Sept. 21-23 in Richmond, CA. The tournament seeding reflects the WFTDA regional rankings for the second quarter, which was based on sanctioned bouts played through June 30.

AZRD is entering its 10th season in September, and is the only WFTDA sanctioned league in Phoenix.  Comprised of more than 100 active skaters, AZRD is proud to be the only team representing Arizona in the West Region Playoffs.

The West Region Playoffs is part of the 2012 WFTDA Playoffs and Championships series, where the top 40 women’s flat track roller derby leagues from around the world will compete for the sport’s greatest glory. The top three teams from The West Region Playoffs, nicknamed “Bay of Reckoning,” will advance to the WFTDA Championships in November. The West Region Playoffs will feature AZRD and nine other teams:

9. Wasatch Roller Derby (Salt Lake City, UT)
10. Sacred City Derby Girls (Sacramento, CA)
