*EDIT 3/13/2020: The March 14th bout is currently postponed and will be rescheduled. Please check back for updates.*
PHOENIX, AZ – At this time, Arizona Roller Derby’s tournaments, scrimmages and practices will be continuing as planned with extra precautions in place for COVID-19.
Our bout venue has confirmed their increased cleaning measures within the facility. In addition, we have put a team in place and will provide extra sanitizing of common spaces throughout our events. At this time will be temporarily suspending the post-bout high-five circle as an extra precaution.
The leadership team has put together a form for league members to use as a “call out” sick from practices. This will remove the pressure of making attendance at practices to put the health of our skaters, volunteers, officials and community first.
We urge all skaters and officials to take extra precautions to clean their gear before and after practices. Soap and hand sanitizer will be available for use before, during and after bouts, scrimmages and practices. We also encourage increasing cleanliness of mouthguards and working to keep your mouthguard in your mouth for the duration of the event you are skating in.
If you are feeling ill, suspect exposure to flu or COVID-19 please stay home from all events, bouts and practices to protect the community, and give yourself the care and rest needed to recover. We urge caution when attending events with large crowds during this time.
Arizona Roller Derby is monitoring the spread of the virus within our area and watching the recommendations of the WHO, CDC and WFTDA. We are committed to keeping our community healthy and safe.
